About the Activity
Visit the most iconic landmarks of Santo Domingo’s Colonial City and its natural attractions with a private driver on this exclusive excursion from Punta Cana.
On this private tour from Punta Cana, you will have the opportunity to explore the most important monuments of Santo Domingo’s Colonial Zone and its stunning natural parks with your loved ones. Without a doubt, you will be captivated by the oldest capital in the Caribbean.
Itinerary
We will begin the adventure with hotel pickup and head toward the historic heart of the Caribbean. During the approximately two-hour journey to Santo Domingo, we will pass through beautiful sugarcane fields and picturesque rural areas.
Upon arriving in the oldest capital of the Americas, we will head to Los Tres Ojos National Park, an impressive system of caves fed by underground lagoons. Here, you can walk along stone stairways where stalactites hang like natural sculptures over turquoise waters.
After about an hour of exploration, we will continue to the National Aquarium, where you will have around 30 minutes to discover the fascinating marine life of the Caribbean and the Atlantic. Once in central Santo Domingo, we will make a brief stop in front of the National Palace, an impressive neoclassical building, before immersing ourselves in the historic streets of the Colonial Zone.
You will visit the First Cathedral of the Americas, the first of its kind built in the New World. From there, we will pass by Ozama Fortress and walk along emblematic streets such as Las Damas and El Conde.
We will continue to the National Pantheon, the respected Museum of the Royal Houses, and Plaza España, dominated by the Alcázar de Colón, a former viceregal palace with impressive views of the Ozama River.
Just a few steps away, you will find the Larimar Museum, where this semi-precious stone—unique to the Dominican Republic—is displayed. Interestingly, it was formed by volcanic eruptions millions of years ago.
At midday, you will have time to enjoy a typical Dominican lunch at one of the restaurants in the city center. Enjoy your meal!
To conclude our private tour in Santo Domingo, we will visit one of the city’s most authentic places: the Colonial Market, where the aromas of coffee, cocoa, and fruits blend with the vibrant colors of Taíno crafts. It will be the perfect place to take home a special souvenir.
Finally, we will begin the return journey, dropping you off at your hotel after approximately 10 to 11 hours of excursion.
