Saona Island is undoubtedly one of the most impressive destinations in the Caribbean. Located within Parque Nacional del Este, this pristine island captivates visitors with its deep turquoise waters, extensive white-sand beaches, and the generous shade of its palm trees.

Located 19 kilometers south of the mainland, the beautiful beaches of Saona Island attract more visitors than all Dominican national parks combined. A protected area of 110 km² and part of Cotubanamá National Park, Saona is a dreamlike tropical escape where bright white sandy beaches and towering coconut palms seem to melt into iridescent turquoise waters.

Most excursions depart from the beach in the village of Bayahibe. Saona tours include a stop at Palmilla, a stretch of white sand with a large natural pool, and another stop at Mano Juan, the only inhabited area of the island. Saona Island is also the most important turtle nesting site in the Dominican Republic.
